What makes chemical etching a desirable decoration method?

Chemical etching creates a permanent and deep impression in the metal. This increased depth over other engraving methods allows for easy infilling of color to replicate company logos or military insignias. Another advantage of working with real metal as opposed to imitation substrates is the ability to add an array of patinas and finishes to add value to the final product. Brass in particular offers a host of possibilities when it comes to patinas. Chemical etching can be used to create everything from memorial plaques, signs, and industrial labels to medals and jewelry. It can also be used to customize a wide variety of objects, such as drinkware and knives as well as promotional items, such as business cards, bottle openers, and coasters.
