What are the most common problems people run into with heat transfer?

Temperature gauges, at times, can be the culprit for less-than-perfect transfer results. This gauge should be checked for accuracy and recalibrated to offer a correct readout when transferring images. The manufacturer of the heat press will be the first point of contact to help resolve an issue.

Because heat-transfer printing offers all types of enhancements for shop owners, we find that the excitement of a new system often undermines the need to thoroughly read instructions that include vital information on the heat press, specific transfer times, temperature, and pressure settings. To avoid common problems, we suggest following all instructions and testing to determine, for example, what medium- to heavy-pressure means on a particular heat press.
