What are the general techniques sandcarvers should follow in order to ensure a good final product?

Hold the blasting nozzle 6 to 8 inches away from the object and perpendicular to the surface. Begin blasting using a back-and-forth motion over the entire surface. Keep the nozzle moving at all times; do not concentrate on any one area. Continue blasting until the desired depth is achieved. Recommended blasting pressure is between 25 to 35 psi when using a pressure-pot system, or 40 to 60 psi when using a siphon system. For most applications, silicon carbide 180 grit is recommended for doing halftones above 40 DPI.
