What are the benefits of using bamboo for my awards projects?

Bamboo is a unique material choice in that it is a grass with the qualities of wood. Unlike hardwood trees, which can take nearly a generation to grow, or metal and acrylics that are based upon finite natural resources, bamboo is a renewable resource that grows to maturity in just a few years. When bamboo is harvested, the roots are left intact, so the shoots grow from the existing root structure.

Despite its lightweight feel, bamboo is stronger than maple and has the same strength-to-weight ratio as steel.
