Producing Stencils/Masks for Sandcarving
Short-and-sweet advice to maximize your sandcarving efficiency.
If a business has automatic washout equipment, then the ideal layout is maximizing every inch of the size of a photoresist sheet. Set the image in a 1/4″ or 1/2″ box. The outline of a box is a trim line for mass production. Use cover paper as a backing liner to produce stencils ahead of time; the cover paper will glide the photomask stencil through trimer, making stencils in record time.
Purchase rolls of photoresist film and use print film in rolls; this means a larger printer that can handle the capability of increased stencils in one layout. Another great investment is a larger exposure unit.
