Pantone Like a Pro

Of all the challenges digital decorators encounter, none is greater than the need to deliver the right colors. Arm yourself with color-matching mastery to bring new efficiencies to your business.

Corporate America almost always uses Pantone spot colors to identify the colors used in logos and other printed items. Being able to correctly match these colors will make you a pro. Unfortunately, most sublimators use their computer monitor to choose colors. Since almost all monitors display colors differently (and sometimes inaccurately), this is not a good plan.

So, how do you do it? Acquire a Pantone Formula Guide and then ask your equipment manufacturer to provide a digital color chart. Simply print and press the digital color chart onto a substrate and then hold the selected Pantone color against that chart to find a match. You’ll then reopen the color chart on your computer and use the matched color to edit/paint within your design program.
