4 Essential Steps in the Rotary Engraving Process

Follow these steps to complete a project using a rotary engraver.

  1. The first step is design. When designing it is always a good idea to keep in mind what engraving tools you have on hand or will need for the job.
  2. Once the design is ready, it is time to set up the machine. Setting up the machine consists of mounting the substrate to the table. This can be done in many ways depending on the specific application.
  3. Picking the right tool for the job is the next step to ensure a quality end product. The tool should be installed and set to the proper depth. Setting a tool’s cutting depth can usually be done manually or in the software on most new machines. Deciding between the software control or the micrometer depth setting depends on the application.
  4. Once the design has been made, the substrate is mounted, and the tool is set, it is time to start engraving.
