How do I remove a transfer from the top platen of my heat press?

In a recent Stahls’ TV Morning Show, Jenna Sackett answers questions on heat printing challenges.

One question addressed was: If heat printers forget to use a cover sheet and print a transfer backward, how do they remove a transfer that sticks to the top of the platen?

Her response was first to turn the heat press off. While it’s still warm, use an abrasion-resistant scrub and a soft cloth to wipe away the heat transfer. It should come off with just a few wipes.

Decorators don’t want to scratch the upper platen with any harsh fibers, so it’s best to avoid paper towels. A T-shirt works great.

To avoid this scenario, get in the habit of using a cover sheet at all times.
