How can I determine if my photo or artwork will engrave well?

The higher the image resolution, or DPI/PPI (dots per inch/pixels per inch for graphics), the better. Low-resolution photos and graphics tend not to laser engrave well. Lasers were made for highly detailed engraving, and when the source material (your photo or graphic) doesn’t have enough detail, the results will be sub-par. Your laser can’t compensate for a low-resolution image.
