Does the type of computer I have determine the type of design software I should use?

There is far less difference today between Macs and PCs than there used to be, and the same holds true with software. Adobe products were more closely associated with Macs and Corel with PCs. Today, both Adobe and Corel products are closely matched. CorelDRAW closely matches Adobe Illustrator for single-page layouts and Adobe InDesign for multiple-page documents. Corel PHOTO-PAINT and Adobe Photoshop are also closely matched. Both Corel and Adobe products can be used for print, web, and machine-driven output, but the tendency for Mac/Apple products to be associated with the printing industry and PCs/Corel with the machine-driven technology generally still stands.
