Make sure your laser is well grounded. The plug connector is critical, but additional grounding may be needed during the summer or if you are in a dry climate. To help reduce shocks, I purchased carbon string that can be attached to the body of my laser around one of the panel screws and let it hang touching the floor. This tends to drain off most of the static, which can be harmful to electrical equipment and uncomfortable for us.
