Do different types of metals require different settings when using a fiber laser?

Each material type responds differently to the fiber wavelength. It also depends on what the operator is attempting to achieve. A light mark on a given material will have different settings than when performing a deep engrave. This is true when changing materials as well.

When changing the settings for different materials, the following will have an impact on laser setting requirements:

  • Available power
  • Material type
  • Coatings (if any)
  • The type of mark desired
  • Reflectivity
