A Progression of Dimensional Etching

The four images of the leaf showcased below display the dimensional etching in stages.

Dimension etch: A single dimension is a uniformed blast or etch. The sandcarved etch shown in this photo is a simple 1D etch. There is a uniformed blast.

Double dimension etch: A double dimension (2D) is a blast or carve with some shaded effects. The veins are deep, and the body of the leaf has shading. You notice a slight difference in depth from the outside of the body of the leaf compared to the inside. The difference in a light etch is achieved by nozzle control and direction.

Dimension carve: A multiple dimension (3D) is one with a curved shape. This photo has the same design, but with a deeper etch on the body of the leaf. It also has several areas in the leaf that are carved. This portrays a more natural look of a leaf. The carved areas show a simple 3-dimensional etch.

Dimension carve with color-fill: Change the design entirely by adding a color-fill. Multiple spray paints were applied to the carved area, creating contrast and a natural leaf appearance in the glass.
