It will enter a low-energy “sleep mode” after a few hours and will occasionally run an automated cleaning cycle, ensuring the print heads don’t become clogged by dried inks. The owner’s manual for a specific printer model will usually address whether it is safer to leave a printer on or to turn it off when not in use.
