Changing the CorelDRAW Default Setting for an Outline
CorelDRAW tips for laser engravers.
My laser sees “hairline” outlines as cutting lines. Since most of the outlines I create, such as drawn rectangles for cutting, I want my default line width to be a “hairline.” To change CorelDRAW’s default line width and other line elements, you can make these changes quickly by deselecting any objects and then selecting the Outline Pen menu on your toolbar (on the left) and double-clicking on the Outline Pen. Make the changes you want and click OK. Now, on your top menu, select Tools and click on Save Settings as Default. This will change the default for all future documents you create.
There is one setting that has an unwanted consequence with your laser. At the bottom of the Outline Pen menu is a check box for Scale with Object. Do not click on the check box; if you change the size of an object you draw, it will change the width of the cutting outline. Lines that you do want to scale when you change an object’s size should be individually set, or if there are no cut lines, marquee select the whole object and check the Scale with Object check box.
