Featured Project: Toshiba Digital Signage Engages Church Membership

The church holds more than 5,000 events a year, and the new signage will help keep the congregation and the community better informed.

Toshiba America Business Solutions, the Lake Forest, California-based U.S. division of the Japan-based company, has provided its Virtuoso interactive kiosks for installation at the Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Florida.

According to the company, the church wanted the signage in order to engage, educate and inspire its members. The kiosks allow the 10,000-member congregation and the broader Naples community to stay informed about the church’s more than 5,000 annual events. The kiosks give details about upcoming classes, events and concerts on Saint John’s 27-acre campus-which includes the Pulte Family Life Center and Claussen Center, as well as the church itself.  The unit’s wayfinding capabilities help visitors arrive on time by pinpointing the exact location of a given event while providing the current location as a reference point.

The displays also list menu items in the café, and part of the programming is a visual account of the church’s rebuilding after it was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017.

“Saint John’s is very active within the greater Naples community, whether feeding those who are hungry, providing free rides to people in need, or supporting impactful area nonprofits,” says the church’s business manager, Jean-Paul Boucher. “Moreover, we host thousands of events and concerts throughout the calendar year. While we offer a ton of positive programs, many went unnoticed. Toshiba’s interactive digital signage now enables us to successfully communicate these activities interactively and dynamically, which is leading to a noticeable uptick in community engagement and service.”

Copy Concepts Inc., a 36-year Toshiba reseller partner, was instrumental in every element of the installation.  The Fort Myers, Florida, company facilitated the agreement, oversees the technology integration and provides customer support.
