Featured Project: Signagelive Technology Helps Enhance the Traveler Experience at London’s Luton Airport
London's Luton Airport turned 80 in 2018, and a major overhaul included a brand new digital signage network powered by Signagelive.
Signagelive, UK-based providers of a cloud-based digital signage platform as well as software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology, is playing a major role in a £160 million (nearly $200 million) renovation of London’s Luton Airport.
The transformation, which was completed in 2018, includes a contemporary terminal extension, a new luxury retail area and a state-of-the art digital signage network.
The renovation was completed at the time Luton turned 80 years old last year. It started as a small municipal airfield and has grown to a major international airport, serving 150 destinations in Europe, Africa and Asia. In 2017, 15.8 million travelers passed through. Estimates have the airport growing to 18 million annually by next year.
The airport’s audio-visual partner, the UK-based SPC Group, chose Signagelive to drive the new digital network, which not only communicates with passengers as they make their way throughout the facility but also communicates internally with airport staff and security. Signagelive’s software powers LG displays throughout. More than 400 displays of varying sizes are in use at any given time, the airport says.
