Featured Project: Canada’s Global Printing Uses Drytac’s ReTac for Theater Graphics

This project was completed in a remarkably short period of time, meeting the client's tight deadline.

A project in Canada promoting the latest superhero blockbuster, “Aquaman,” was turned around in just a few days by Mississauga, Ontario-based Global Printing Enterprises, a large-format branding specialist, using graphics media from Richmond, Virginia-based Drytac, an international manufacturer of adhesive-coated products and finishing equipment.

Warner Bros Canada contracted with Rooftop Agency to hire a printer that could outfit a movie theater with the Aquaman promotional materials with an extremely tight deadline in place, according to the companies.

“The biggest challenge was coordinating the project with the tight deadline,” says Carlo Toscano, president of Global Printing Enterprises. “Projects like these should take two weeks to come together. We impressed ourselves in achieving this print and install in just five days.”

That five days was from the initial site visit, to Global receiving the files and creating color proofs, to printing and cutting the panels, then labeling and packaging them and turning them over to Mississaugua’s Sekanskin Media for an overnight installation.

To produce the super-sized Aquaman movie artwork, Global Printing Enterprises used an HP 3000 Latex printer running two rolls of Drytac’s ReTac Smooth 150 concurrently. According to Drytac, ReTac Smooth 150 is a 6-mil white polymeric printable PVC film coated with the company’s ReTac ultra-removable adhesive technology to allow easy installation, repositioning and removal. It is compatible with multiple inks and has a Class 0 fire rating, making it suitable for most indoor surfaces in public areas with strict fire regulations, the company says.
