Giving Back: IT Supplies Donates Thanksgiving Meals to Local Church
The company's Give Back program holds quarterly campaigns and then smaller fund-raising efforts sprinkled in between throughout the year.
Rolling Meadows, Illinois-based IT Supplies recently partnered with St. Edna’s, a local Catholic church, to make sure that several dozen families had a nice Thanksgiving Day meal they might not have had otherwise.
As part of the company’s ongoing “Give Back” initiative, St. Edna’s provided IT Supplies with a list of 36 families that were in need this Thanksgiving. The company sent out groups of employees during work hours to shop for the families, and each of the 36 was given a gift basket of a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, canned vegetables, canned fruit and cranberry sauce.
According to Jeff Lucido of IT Supplies, “We are very interested in teaching our employees the importance of helping the ‘least of these,’ as Jesus taught.”
Lucido says the company’s focus on philanthropy is very much a part of its culture. Throughout the year it implements its Give Back program each quarter, and there are smaller fundraisers sprinkled in between.
For example, in November, IT Supplies held a “snacks and sodas for good” campaign, in which it raised $83 to help its local community closet buy coats for those who need one for the winter. The company’s employees also donated 28 gently used coats to the same cause.
They have a unique campaign underway for December called “Reverse Advent,” in which they fill a stable created by local families with items needed in the community, such as hats, gloves, socks and diapers. The company is also seeking employee volunteers to deliver the items once the collection period is over.
Feed My Starving Children, a backpack-filling campaign for underprivileged kids in Chicago and the local Ronald McDonald House are a few of the other initiatives IT Supplies has been involved with, Lucido says.
