Lane Seven has released the newest installment of its ongoing Meet The Innovator series, featuring Mikala Meidl, CEO of Ambient Inks — a Wisconsin-based screen printing and fulfillment company known for its eco-conscious approach to artist merchandise.

The episode follows Meidl’s path from washing screens in her college dorm to running “one of the most respected print shops in the music world.” At Ambient Inks, she’s helping artists and brands make better choices by showing them that sustainability doesn’t have to come at the cost of creativity or success.

“One of the terms we coined a few years back was good attracts good,” Meidl shared in the interview. “If we’re doing good things as a company — whether that’s through sustainability, conscious business practices, or volunteer work — that will attract similar clients and people with similar mindsets.”

In the episode, Meidl also reflects on Ambient Inks’ decade-long partnership with Bon Iver and how the collaboration pushed both teams to prioritize sustainable materials and production methods. “The reality is that a fan’s going to buy a shirt no matter what at a show,” she said. “Ultimately, if someone’s holding on to that shirt for 30 years, that’s more sustainable than the shirt that they wore one time and are going to donate.”

The Meet The Innovator series is said to celebrate the people behind the presses: the artists, printers, and creative leaders who use Lane Seven blanks to tell bigger stories. Each episode dives into their craft and the impact they’re making in their communities.
