As the GRAPHICS PRO EXPO team moves into its fall 2024 schedule, they have added a new element to the popular trade show: GPX University. Because the “START HERE” program was such a resounding success at previous GPX events, the concept has been expanded to include more hands-on experience with major influencers in the industry.

The team tapped Leo Martinez with KeyPrint Co. and Stan Banks from T-Shirt Side Hustle, as well as others, as faculty for the inaugural GPX University. Below, find out more about GPX University and the faculty’s involvement:

Why did you want to be a part of GPX University?

Leo Martinez: I’ve always believed that the best way to advance our industry is by teaching decorators everything we wished we knew and more when we were at that stage. Teaming up with GPX to bring the attendees GPX University is a perfect way to teach the latest decorating methods and create the most informed (and happy) decorators/operators through the university. It’s an investment GPX is making for the industry and I am excited to be a part of it.

Stan Banks: Since I started my journey in 2017 to bring more people into the industry as a way to make extra income or, even better, a full-time income, I have always aimed to help as many people as possible. I had the chance to give the first keynote for START HERE Academy a few years back and it was an honor to be able to give a room packed with over 300 attendees valuable information and I still connect with some of those attendees to this day. I see GPX University as the continuation of that experience. Now, not only giving people a place to start, but giving them a place to stay and grow.

What will make GPXU so special for attendees and exhibitors?

Leo Martinez: This is a rare opportunity for attendees to learn how products are made before buying the equipment and supplies they need. They’ll get to create real custom products, ask questions, and learn from actual operators before making equipment and supply purchases. You know it’s special when the education comes before, during, and after the sale.

Stan Banks: Unbiased information is like a commodity — it’s truly hard to come by. Attendees of GPX University can come and get their questions answered by practicing professionals and make their next decision more informed. I believe that future growth of the industry comes from educating people from within and helping them become better customers to build a better business. Thanks to the sponsors who help us create the university because they understand that education is simply what the industry needs.

What are you looking forward to the most with GPXU?

Leo Martinez: Connecting with new and seasoned operators and decorators to learn about the newest technology in the industry and teaching the newcomers everything we know to give them a head start in their business.

Stan Banks: I have traveled the country educating apparel decorators since 2020, helping them grow their businesses — it never gets old. I would have to say meeting, helping overcome problems, and hearing the stories from fellow decorators is what I am looking forward to the most when it comes to GPX University.

GPX University is part of the last two events of the year, held in Indianapolis and Charlotte. GPX University will mimic a shop in a designated area on the show floor, with educators conducting demonstrations, and small group discussions on various subjects necessary to managing a successful shop.

Now you can Start Here and Grow Here with GPX University. There is no better place to see, touch, and experience every vertical the graphics industry has to offer. From direct-to-film printing to custom gifts and signage, GPX is the one-stop opportunity to grow your business.
