CHT Group, a producer of specialty chemicals, announces it has built a new production facility in Meghna Industrial Economic Zone (MIEZ), Narayanganj, Bangladesh. The new facility was inaugurated on May 9.

Prodip Kumar Dhar, general manager of CHT Bangladesh, is looking forward to contributing to Bangladesh’s economic success by providing not only sustainable products but also customer service.

“CHT Group has always been committed to quality. As a subsidiary of CHT Group, CHT Bangladesh has clearly positioned itself to manufacture world-class quality products while keeping sustainability and safety as top priorities,” states Dhar. “CHT Bangladesh’s goal is to be closer to our customers in Bangladesh, and we promise to provide world-class service to our customers. With this investment, CHT Group aims to be part of the country’s economic growth and development.”

This increased commitment in Bangladesh is confirmed by Martin Stangs, regional sales manager of APAC Auxiliaries at CHT.

“The long-term success story with RH Corporation now comes to an even higher level. In addition to the decade-long service provided by motivated colleagues of RH Corporation and constant visits by well-experienced CHT application field colleagues, CHT products will now be made available locally by our new production facility at CHT Bangladesh,” says Stangs. “This will further enhance our current high-end offer with in-time deliveries, which are now possible. The well-known services provided by our up-to-date laboratory facility in Dhaka will continue to prevail. This is all supported by the profound analytical and technical equipment at CHT Germany as well as CHT Switzerland. Less water, less energy, less time, but still ‘fit-for-purpose performance.’ These requirements are no strangers to us. In alignment with our CHT Group policy, ‘We take care’, we will solve these problems, too.”

Benoit Moutault, group vice president of textile at CHT Group and head of CHT Switzerland AG, emphasizes CHT’s customer proximity and sustainability: “The textile industry has recently become even more agile than before. The needs of speed and quality require competent, reliable, and more sustainable suppliers of chemicals. With our new textile auxiliaries plant located in Narayanganj-Bangladesh, CHT Group brings its sustainable solutions and its products closer to our valued customers. CHT is the partner of choice for the finishing of textiles in Bangladesh”.

Besides customer proximity, sustainability and environmental protection are additionally big topics for chemical companies. Sustainability is said to be deeply anchored at CHT Group and plays an important role in Bangladesh, too.

“The local production facility in Bangladesh will enable us to supply our customers in this important textile market with our sustainable products and solutions – faster and with a smaller carbon footprint,” remarks CHT’s Chief Sustainability Officer Dr. Annegret Vester.

The new facility of the CHT Group in Bangladesh also contributes to sustainability in other ways: The roofs of the two buildings are fully covered with solar photovoltaic modules. Other buildings have periphery glass and transparent roofs. In addition, there is a groundwater tank to harvest rainwater and a biological effluent treatment plant to reuse treated water.
