Stahl Family Scholarship Q1 Winners Announced
The scholarship is awarded to Pine Bush High School and HRH Made
STAHLS’ announces the first Stahl Family Scholarship winners of 2023: Pine Bush High School and HRH Made.
In order to give back and support the entrepreneurial spirit of STAHLS’, the Stahl Family Scholarship is awarding eight total winners with a “dream shop package.” Each quarter, the company will select two lucky winners: one business and one school. Winners will receive the package featuring two Hotronix heat presses, essential heat printing accessories, and on-site equipment training with STAHLS’ experts.
School winner: Pine Bush High School
The first school winner of the Stahl Family Scholarship is Nora Callahan from Pine Bush, New York. Callahan is a teacher and chair of the Business Department at Pine Bush High School.
The business department at Pine Bush currently offers courses in entrepreneurship, accounting, business applications, marketing, financial planning, banking, economics, and business math. Additionally, the art department offers courses in 3D art & design, game design, animation, and media arts.
They are excited for the scholarship to bridge the departments in a meaningful and productive way while offering students project-based learning opportunities.
Specifically, Callahan has focused her efforts on opening a spirit store in the school this year to give students real-world training in accounting, marketing, merchandising, design, and entrepreneurial skills. The school is passionate about giving students tangible skills so they can get meaningful jobs out of high school.
I have a fantastic group of young people that are excited to do this! My vision is to integrate departmental efforts via our spirit store. We have worked to create more programs to help students that want to enter the workforce right away. This scholarship will make it possible for us to train and equip students to enter entrepreneurial or trade-based fields without taking out unnecessary and crippling student loans.

Small business winner: HRH Made
The first quarter small business winner is HRH Made, a workforce training social enterprise of Hudson River Housing, Inc. Located in Poughkeepsie, New York, HRH Made supports a rotation cohort of trainees who have experienced homelessness and barriers to employment, such as housing instability, age, disability, health issues, and others.
Their goal is to prepare people for future jobs, giving participants a sense of confidence, creative expression, skill-building, job readiness, and money management skills.
In 2019, HRH Made began offering onsite T-shirt printing at a local music festival and has since expanded to offer printing at local regattas, fundraising events, and other festivals. They currently offer digital print/cut, heat transfer vinyl, screen printing, and sublimation decorating.
Goals of HRH Made
One of their goals is to continue developing and expanding their advocacy line of products, which currently includes “World Without Homelessness” and “Everyone Deserves a Door” gear, with several additional designs. In the future, they plan to print their advocacy line of products at national conferences for agencies that provide services for people who have experienced housing insecurity and homelessness.
In 2022, HRH Made launched a program called “Teen Shirt” to teach printing and entrepreneurial skills to youth in their community. As they stated, “When you hire HRH Made, you’re not just getting a great product, you’re supporting an even greater mission. 100% of our proceeds support workforce training programs at Hudson River Housing.”
With their scholarship, they are hoping to greatly improve the quality and production time of their products. They are also looking forward to having much better equipment to work with and the onsite training. As they put it, “The training will be invaluable for us. We have learned this craft from trial and error, ‘YouTube University,’ reading blogs, and online training offered by our suppliers, including STAHLS’.”
