Agfa Announces Offset Printing Plate Price Increase
Offset plate prices will increase by up to 10%, effective Aug. 1, 2021
Agfa, a provider of digital systems for the printing industry, announces it will globally increase the prices of its offset printing plates.
According to the company, the ongoing rise of raw material costs, particularly aluminum, energy, and packaging materials, in combination with high freight rates, make price adjustments unavoidable.
Agfa notes that the price of aluminum, the prime component of an offset printing plate, peaked in June at more than $2,500 per ton. Additionally, prices for packaging materials almost doubled in a span of a couple of months. Freight and transportation services remain under extreme pressure in terms of availability and cost.
Due to a rise in costs, offset plate prices will increase by up to 10%, effective Aug. 1, 2021, as contracts permit. This is in addition to the already implemented increase and will likely be followed by more as the trend continues.
The Agfa sales teams will connect with customers to discuss details and support the implementation, taking into account existing agreements with clients.
The news comes as companies across the graphics industry are affected by supply chain issues. Recently, EFI announced a price increase for its inkjet inks, supplies, and parts.
