Patches are made in various ways:
- Through sewing on whole polyester swatches, from which you then cut the excess away manually with an inexpensive hot knife
- Through stitching them like an appliqué on a water-soluble stabilizer that washes away
- By making them entirely with thread by stitching on a plastic substrate that tears free after embroidering
Any of these methods are relatively inexpensive additions to a shop’s lineup, requiring almost nothing but simple materials to execute on an existing embroidery machine.
