Sandlot Sports, a custom screen printing, embroidery, and promotional company that specializes in spiritwear, team uniforms, corporate workwear, and event T-shirts, has been recognized as one of the 2024 awardees for the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch Award, presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.

Sandlot Sports will be acknowledged on-stage at the awards ceremony during the 20th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business Gala on May 21.

“As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary of MCSB, we’re reminded of the incredible resilience and innovation within Michigan’s small business sector. This year’s winners demonstrate the collective entrepreneurial spirit that drives our state’s economy forward,” said Jennifer Deamud, MCSB Board Chair. “Congratulations to this year’s awardees. To all the winners, your dedication and leadership inspire us all, proving that success truly is best when shared.”

The 2024 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch are said to have made a substantial collective economic impact, responsible for $414.3 million in total annual revenue during 2023. Together they provide 1,577 full-time equivalent employees.

Companies nominated for the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch Award must have between 6 and 99 full-time-equivalent employees and generate $750,000 to $50 million in annual revenue or working capital from investors or grants. Additionally, the companies must be privately held and headquartered in Michigan.

Judges from economic and entrepreneurship development organizations across the state annually select the winners. The judges evaluate the applicants’ demonstration of intent and capacity to grow based on the following:

  • Employee or sales growth
  • Exceptional entrepreneurial leadership
  • Sustainable competitive advantage
  • Other notable factors that showcase the company’s success

Michigan Celebrates received over 500 nominations for the 2024 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch award. In addition to a competitive landscape for this award, the businesses who are selected by the judges go through a rigorous due diligence process prior to the final decision.

“It’s a real honor to be recognized for all of the hard work our staff and team have performed to keep Sandlot growing within the community. We are a much different Sandlot than we were in 2017 and we’re unrecognizable from our start in 2008,” said Adam McCauley, co-owner of Sandlot Sports.

Sandlot Sports is no stranger to the Gala, having earned dual recognition in 2017 as the Best Small Business for the Great Lakes Bay Region (GLBR) of the Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Main Street USA honoree for the statewide network.
