
Glantz has announced the passing of Herbert Theodore “Herb” Glantz, a longtime owner and leader of the family-owned sign supply company. Glantz died Aug. 26 in New York City at the age of 96.
In a press announcement Glantz company said that Herb Glantz’s passing comes during a significant year in Glantz history, as the company celebrates its 120th anniversary and four generations of family leadership.
According to the press release: “Herb was the grandson of Nathan Glantz, who founded N. Glantz & Son in 1906. After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and serving as an officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, Herb began his career as a management consultant before joining the family business.
Over the course of his decades-long career with Glantz, Herb played an instrumental role in expanding the company and guiding it through significant growth. His leadership built on the foundation his grandfather and father, Edwin, established and positioned Glantz for the national presence it has today.”
Herb Glantz is survived by his wife of more than 59 years, Kitty Glantz; his sister, Alice Daniel; his children, Randy Glantz, Joseph Hartman, Dr. Eric Hartman, Lisa Prickett, Davey Glantz, and Jennifer Johnston; and 15 grandchildren.
As Glantz marks 120 years in business, Herb’s legacy remains an important part of the company’s story and the foundation upon which its future continues to be built.”
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
