Fedrigoni, an Italian manufacturer of pressure-sensitive products, announced that Marco Nespolo is stepping down from his role as chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of the group, effective Oct. 6, to pursue other opportunities. He will maintain his equity investment in the group, and he will continue to support the shareholders and the management team as a board member.

According to Fedrigoni, over his almost 8 years as CEO, Nespolo has played a key role in engineering and leading the transformation of the group, strengthening its market position and driving its significant international growth, both organically and through several acquisitions. The board of directors stated that it expresses its sincere appreciation for his leadership, commitment, and contribution to the group’s development over the years, and for his continued support as a board member.

The board of directors, having acknowledged Nespolo’s resignation, has appointed Rolf Stangl as executive chairman effective as of the same date.

“This appointment is part of the board’s ongoing commitment to continue to evolve the group’s management and governance structures in line with the Fedrigoni Group and OpCos strategy,” stated Fedrigoni in a press release. “Stangl, as executive chairman, together with the Group CFO and OpCos CEOs, will work together to continue and accelerate the profitable growth of the group.”

Stangl brings more than two decades of leadership experience in the global packaging industry, as well as extensive executive and board experience across both private equity-backed and publicly listed companies. He served as CEO of Swiss-listed packaging company SIG Group AG from 2008 to 2020, leading the company through multiple ownership transitions and a successful IPO. Most recently, he served as a senior advisor to Apollo Global Management and is non-executive chairman of Reynolds Consumer Products and a non-executive board member of The Family Office Co.

The board of directors stated it is delighted to welcome Stangl to his new role and looks forward to working closely with him.

“The board is confident that Mr. Stangl’s extensive industry expertise, proven leadership track record, and strategic perspective will provide valuable support to the group’s management team and contribute to the continued execution of Fedrigoni’s strategy and long-term sustainable and profitable growth,” stated Fedrigoni.
