FOREST CITY, N.C.A recent release by the Charlotte Business Journal reports that Everest Textile Company plans to open a production facility in Forest City, North Carolina, an area roughly 65 miles northwest of Charlotte.

Based in Taiwan, Everest produces garment textiles for multiple major performance wear and outerwear brands. The Forest City facility is the first U.S. location for the company, which currently operates factories in China and Thailand, in addition to Taiwan. Everest has already secured an existing 400,000-sq. ft. building in the area for weaving, dyeing, and finishing operations. The plant is expected to add more than 600 jobs to the local workforce.

“As a native North Carolinian, it is exciting to see Everest Textile USA investing in the state and people of North Carolina, while also creating innovative products,” Michael Chen, U.S. legal counsel for Everest, tells the Charlotte Business Journal.

While domestic textile production has declined over recent decades with many companies moving operations overseas, various manufacturers still maintain production in North Carolina. Apparel companies such as Royal Apparel, Gildan, and Diamond Apparel operate locations in the state.
