SGP Debuts New Nonprofit Educational Organization

The SGPF is meant to serve as a clearinghouse for information and education on sustainable printing practices.

grahamThe Sayville, New York-based Sustainable Green Printing Partnership, a nonprofit organization that provides sustainability certification in the graphics communication industry, introduces a new sister company, the SGP Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization.

The mission of the SGPF is to provide education and awareness on the best practices associated with sustainability in the printing industry, including printers; suppliers; and customers/print buyers.

Specifically, the SGPF aims to:

  • Promote sustainable and technological innovation
  • Advocate for a more sustainable supply chain
  • Provide a forum for sustainability discussions
  • Educate the public on print sustainability

SGPF will be chaired by a long-time supporter of SGP, Jonathan Graham of Germany’s TE Connectivity Industrial.

“Companies, especially in the retail space, require printers to be part of a more sustainable supply chain,” says Graham. “SGPF plans to provide educational programs and information that will positively impact sustainability success with our SGP-certified facilities, brands, suppliers and the printing industry as a whole. “The SGP Foundation will directly address the needs of the market and provide best practices via seminars, webinars and information sharing to make the sustainability journey easier.”

2018 has been a banner year for the SGP. Aside from celebrating its 10th anniversary and introducing the SGP Foundation, it has also debuted the SGP Impact Tracker and merged the TLMI (Tag and Label Manufacturer’s Institute) L.I.F.E. (Label Initiative for the Environment) certification program into the SGP.

“The SGPF comes out of an understanding that SGP and our community of certified printers, industry suppliers, associations and retail brands have valuable experience and information to share with a broader audience,” says Graham. “We anticipate the Foundation to be the catalyst for innovation in the sustainability for the printing industry and businesses in general.”
