NanoLumens Announces 2019 Crystal Nixel Award Winners

This is the fourth year for these awards, which celebrate outstandingly creative LED installations both in the U.S. and globally that use NanoLumens' products.

Atlanta-based NanoLumens, makers of custom-built indoor and outdoor LED displays for a variety of markets, announces the winners of its fourth annual Crystal Nixel awards, in which it recognizes outstanding creativity in the design and implementation of an LED installation.

According to NanoLumens vice president of global marketing and business development,  Joe’ Lloyd, in the domestic category, the 2019 awards went to firms involved in the McCarran International Airport project in Las Vegas. In the international category, the award went to the Suria KLCC Shopping Mall installation in Kuala Lumpur for the international category. Integrator Vision Sign of Las Vegas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana based out-of-home advertising company Lamar were awarded Crystal Nixel sculptures for the McCarran International Airport installation, while EWSB and Suria KLLC were awarded sculptures for the Suria Shopping Mall installation in Kuala Lumpur.

The McCarran International Airport installation involved the complete replacement of 60 outdated static banner displays with an equal number of NanoLumens Performance Series and ENGAGE Series displays of various shapes and sizes in the airport’s Terminal 1 baggage claim area.

“What makes this installation even more amazing is the fact that the entire makeover was completed while the baggage claim area remained in operation,” says Lloyd. “The Vision Sign, Lamar and NanoLumens teams really pulled together to effect a remarkably seamless transition.”

The Suria KLCC Shopping Mall in Malaysia is a six-story shopping center located at the foot of the famous Petronas Twin Towers in the Kuala Lumpur city center. Built in 1999, the mall is considered one of the most spectacular shopping malls in the world, featuring a concert hall, an oceanarium, an art gallery and a children’s science discovery center.

The recently added NanoLumens display installed in the mall’s Centre Court area is the world’s largest double-sided LED display, according to Lloyd, and it’s the first NanoLumens installation in Malaysia. The displays feature a 19′ x 33 ½’ Performance Series 4.7mm double-sided display that rotates 359-degrees, uniquely showcasing many of the mall’s upscale consumer brands such as Gucci, Chanel, Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren and Apple.
