UK-based industrial inkjet printhead manufacturer Xaar announces that fellow UK-based company Meteor Inkjet Ltd., a manufacturer of industrial printhead drivers, will be producing an inkjet development kit and commercial drive electronics set for the Xaar 1201 printhead.

This specially-developed kit from Meteor is designed to maximize the performance of Xaar 1201 printheads, the companies say. Original equipment manufacturers use the Xaar 1201 printhead for printers they sell into the graphics and textiles markets.

According to the two companies, the collaboration will mean that OEMs can rely on a best-in-class solution from initial printhead development through to full commercialization of their printer, which should shorten the OEMs’ time-to-market.

“We chose to work with Meteor Inkjet because its electronics-which are designed to be power-efficient, compact and flexible-are the perfect way to get the maximum performance from the Xaar 1201,” says Simon Kirk, senior product manager at Xaar.

He adds that while printheads are obviously a key part of any printing system, the electronics and software behind them are also critical to their performance.
