JCDecaux Wins Exclusive Bus and Tram Shelter Contract in Berlin

The Parisian company's ties to Berlin's transit authority date back decades, to the days of the Berlin Wall.

jcdecaux_275x275Paris-based digital outdoor advertising company JCDecaux announces that its German subsidiary, Wall GmbH, has won two contracts put out for bid by the Berlin Transportation Authority.

The first contract is for the exclusive advertising rights for 6,200 2-meter x 2-meter (6 ½’ x 6 ½’) advertising panels on more than 4,600 bus and tram shelters in Germany’s capital city. The second contract covers the cleaning and maintenance of the shelters. Both are six-year contracts with a three-year extension option.

These latest contracts are the continuation of a 34-year partnership between the company and Berlin’s transit authority. After the Berlin Wall fell in 1991, the company expanded its network of bus and tram shelters to the eastern part of the city. Then in 2007 Wall GmbH bought the authority’s advertising subsidiary VVR-Berek.

JCDecaux is a global company whose U.S. headquarters are in New York City.
