IT Supplies Plays Host to World-Class Photographic Exhibition

IT Supplies was the first U.S. host outside of New York City for this exhibition.

Rolling Meadows, Illinois-based IT Supplies, a provider of a wide range of products to professional print shops, recently hosted a visit by the traveling Atlas of Humanity Print Exhibition, the exhibition’s first showing in the Chicago area.

The event was put on in conjunction with UK-based Innova Art Ltd., a global seller of fine art and photo papers and canvases.

Atlas of Humanity is an ongoing project conceived and curated by world-renowned photographer Martin Vegas for DeFactory, “a cultural nonprofit association that serves as a meeting point for debate, exchange and promotion of artistic and cultural activities.” According to DeFactory, “the goal of this atlas is the mapping of the populations that inhabit our planet by way of a cultural-anthropological and ethnological reading: through dialogue and comparison, thus emerge cultural differences between ethnic groups.”

The nonprofit goes on to describe what is a very ambitious global project, which Vegas first envisioned in 2015: “Each photographer involved has allowed the photographs to focus on the diversity of the subject matter rather than trumpeting their own creative approach. The creative talent pool behind the collection is immense; many of these photographers are sometimes invisible to the general public and many are celebrated winners of prestigious international awards. All are united on a common journey: to show, without any claim of being comprehensive, the great wealth of the peoples that inhabit our planet in a choral vision of humanity.

The first Atlas of Humanity exhibition took place in Germany in 2018. Since then the exhibition has been seen in Italy, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Tunis, New York City and, in September in Chicago, at IT Supplies.

Along with the exhibition the event included live digital printing demonstrations and experts on fine art photographic papers and printers were on hand to answer attendees questions.
