Cleveland, Ohio-based Global Lighting Technologies, makers of LED-based edge lighting for flat-panel displays, has opened a fifth manufacturing facility, this one in Tongluo, Taiwan.

The company describes the facility as “green” and “super-efficient,” saying it has fully automatic equipment that allows its products to go “from pellet to pallet” without operator involvement.

“These are the most efficient extrusion lines ever employed by GLT for production and are capable of producing lightguides up to 80″ diagonal,” the company says in a press release. The 553,000-square-foot factory, which includes 405,000 square feet of production floor, will open with five extrusion lines.

The company says it built the facility to keep up with growing demand for its products.
