West Hartford, Connecticut-based Legrand, which provides electrical and digital building infrastructure-serving the digital sign market, among many others-announces that employees from North and Center America recently donated their time to take part in the “Rebuilding Together 2019 National Rebuilding Day,” which provides home repairs for those in need.

Participation in the event was organized through Legrand’s “Better Communities” program, a cross-company initiative that encourages volunteerism across three major focuses: home improvements (better homes), the greening of schools (better schools), and natural disaster prep and response efforts (better recovery), the company says. Rebuilding Together has been a partner of the Better Homes program since 2014, and Legrand volunteers focused on initiatives dedicated to building and improving homes for low-income families, disabled individuals, veterans and others.

Rebuilding Together is a non-profit organization with the goal of preserving affordable homeownership and revitalizing neighborhoods through free home repairs and modifications for neighbors in need.

The volunteering took place during National Rebuilding Day, which is always the last Saturday in April. Legrand employees donated more than 280 volunteer hours working alongside homeowners to repair fences, leaking pipes, replacing sheetrock, installing handrails, fixing and replacing doors, planting gardens, and a variety of other home improvement projects.

“National Rebuilding Day is perfectly aligned to the mission of our Better Communities program,” says Susan Rochford, vice president of energy efficiency, sustainability and public policy for the company. “We’re very proud of the number of our employees who volunteer their own time to help improve the homes and lives of others.”
