Giving Back: Big Systems to Donate 3D Printer to Local High School

The XYZPrinting brand of 3D printers is new to the U.S., according to Big Systems, which is distributing it here.

bigsystems_275x275Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-based Big Systems LLC, a distributor of digital, screen and 3D printers and related supplies, announces a partnership with the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Milwaukee to promote the school’s science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEaM) programs.

The company is donating a top-of-the-line 3D color printer to the school to enhance its engineering, robotics and arts education.

The printer is an XYZPrinting PartPro200 xTCS Color 3D printer. It will be the school’s first and, the company says, contains many features that will make it easy to operate for students.

“Having access to a 3D printer will allow our students to explore the intersection of creativity and technology, collaborate to solve problems, and gain skills that will expand their conceptions of what they can accomplish,” says Andrew BoddySpargo, the school’s dean of performance measurement and innovation. “It will enrich existing curricula by allowing students to incorporate physical models into their projects and it will open new avenues of technology education that our students otherwise wouldn’t be able to access.”

This year, Cristo Rey Jesuit Milwaukee is celebrating its first graduating class of 85 students.

The XYZPrinting brand is new to the U.S. and Cristo Rey is one of the first organizations in the Midwest to take delivery of this new generation of 3D printers, according to Big Systems.
