Featured Project: Red-Letter Signage-Literally

After more than 100 years in business the Philadelphia Sign Co. has earned a national reputation and does work all over the country.

The roots of Palmyra, New Jersey-based Philadelphia Sign go all the way back to 1905, when it first opened, but the seeds of the company really began to be sown in 1911, when an 18-year-old named Andrew Paxson Trucksess bought the Philadelphia Sign Company for $500. Remaining in the family for decades, Philadelphia Sign has grown to be one of the country’s largest sign firms, accepting work from all over.

Today, the company has four locations totaling 467,000 square feet: two in New Jersey, one in Massachusetts and one in Alabama, which came about when it acquired ID Associates in August of 2018.

The company says that this project for FMC, a Philadelphia-based multinational agricultural sciences company, was two years in the making from conception to completion, requiring extensive coordination between the building’s contractors and Philadelphia Sign.

The FMC Tower is the tallest building in Philadelphia, which makes these 20′-high FMC letters, sitting 700′ up on the building, the most visible in Philly’s skyline.
