Featured Project: From Humble Beginnings in Houston

Humble Sign's president bought a fledgling company during the Great Recession and grew it to where it is today.

This Fall Classic featured project comes to us from the Houston suburb of Humble, Texas, which once-more than a century ago-sat atop the largest oilfield in Texas. Today, it’s part of one of the largest metro areas in the country but sits just 19 miles from Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros.

Humble Sign Co. got its start in 2010, when the entire country was still reeling from the Great Recession. At that time, Humble Sign was actually just a side business to the owner of an automobile repair shop. It was being run as a two-man print shop that was barely surviving when along came company president Bart Peterschick. He bought that print shop, despite it being an industry he knew nothing about. As the story is told on the company website, at the time Peterschick was underemployed and the economy was so bad, what did he have to lose?

The rest is indeed history. Today, Humble Sign has more than 30 employees, does more than $5 million in annual sales, and moved into its first brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in 2018.

This project, for a local leasing company, shows off some of the channel letter fabrication and design skills that the company delivers for its customers.
