Minneapolis-based BLM Technologies, a provider of digital signage and other information technology services and hardware to a variety of industries, recently updated the digital signage for a local, regional chain of hair salons, vastly improving the company’s operating efficiencies.

Cole’s Salon, a luxury hair care chain with five locations in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, was struggling with outdated technology in its locations, according to a case study released by BLM. Every time the company wanted to make a change to its digital signage displays they had to send out DVDs to each individual salon, with personnel there responsible for uploading the new information. This resulted in promotional delays and sometimes inconsistent messaging.

“Just changing one simple ad was extremely time intensive and difficult for our team,” says Melissa Hanson, chief operating officer at Cole’s Salon. “Our locations are incredibly busy and time spent solving signage issues meant time not spent serving our clients.”

BLM Technologies stepped in and delivered an upgrade that included new media players in all locations, plus a media player within Cole’s marketing group that serves as a centralized hub that distributes digital content instantly to all five locations. The content is managed via cloud-based software.
