South Bend, Indiana-based FDC Graphic Films, a master converter and distributor of graphic films, heat transfer films and wide-format digital media, showcased careers in the sign, graphics and visual communications industries as part of Manufacturing Day 2019.

On Oct. 4, FDC hosted tours for local students from Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana. Students learned more about the industry’s wide range of careers, from sales professionals to installers and production.

The company told the students that in all, more than 200,000 professionals work in the industry, which is dedicated to helping businesses and communities grow. The company adds that Manufacturing Day has previously led to the hiring of a number of participants.

“We were very excited to participate in Manufacturing Day this year,” says Chris Stoler, president of FDC Graphic Films Inc. “The sign, graphics and visual communications industry makes significant contributions to our community and provides dynamic and vibrant career opportunities in a range of fields. We hope that by spending part of their day with us, students will be inspired to seek out the sign, graphics and visual communications industry, and perhaps our company, after they graduate.”

Numbers aren’t out for this year yet but in 2018 more than 3,500 students toured a sign, graphics and/or visual communications company in North America as part of the event.

Manufacturing Day is sponsored by the National Association of Manufacturers and the Manufacturing Institute.
