NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.-Vapor Apparel earns the distinction of being one of the fastest-growing South Carolina businesses in 2016. SCBiz News, a regional Charleston business magazine, and the Capital Corporation, a middle-market investment banking firm, name Vapor as a top-performing company in the state. The SCBiz list features 40 businesses, including 20 small and 20 larger companies. A forthcoming awards ceremony, The Roaring 20s Awards, determines the ranking of each finalist. The Capital Corporation holds a similar event on Oct. 25, entitled the SCP TOP 25 Fastest Growing Companies, of which Vapor is also a finalist.

This year marks the third time the company has garnered a finalist spot on two top lists for business growth in South Carolina.

“We hit a new level of revenue, employment, and growth when we brought our Union, S.C. facility online in 2015,” says Jackson Burnett, president and co-founder of Vapor Apparel. “That, combined with a new focus on print on-demand solutions has us working with some of the largest outdoor and fishing brands in the country.”

Since opening 12 years ago, the company has added new services, apparel choices, and marketplaces which have contributed to its growth.

“Our business is changing and services have become a larger part of what we do,” says Chris Bernat, chief revenue officer at Vapor Apparel, adding that the cut-and-sew division of the company has grown in demand for customers who use the company’s blank apparel services.

The company also coordinates with B2B customers to automate content and improve e-commerce platforms.

In addition to existing services, Bernat says Vapor plans to expand the company’s cut-and-sew offerings and expand the current sublimatable product selection for customers.

The nominations are the newest signs of growth at the company. In early 2015, Vapor Apparel laid plans for its first North American manufacturing facility in Union County, S.C., roughly two hours north of company headquarters in North Charleston, S.C.
