Cary, North Carolina-based awards retailer 5Star Awards Inc. is opening the doors to its new showroom Thursday, March 31 to host Apex Chamber’s March Business After Hours-an open house event for local business owners and individuals to network and to learn more about the awards and engraving industry.
From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the family-owned business will be showcasing a variety of its services from laser engraving and UV printing to sandcarving for the event’s estimated 50 guests, according to 5Star Awards Co-Owner Lisa Higginbotham. “Our goal is to have people come in and see our showroom and our equipment because, historically, they have been thrilled to see how the process works,” Higginbotham tells A&E magazine. Attendees, she explains, will see the equipment in action as team members will sandcarve wine bottles and engrave flash drives. Visitors will also receive the personalized products used in the demonstrations. “People are fascinated to actually see how the sandblaster works because the general concept is, ‘Oh, that’s pretty!’ But they don’t understand the process,” she argues.
By bringing local businesses together to get involved, she says, these events benefit the community. “I think it’s important as a business owner-it’s my responsibility-to also give back to my community,” Higginbotham says, explaining that these communities also lend a greater appreciation for the awards and engraving industry as a whole.
“(The event) helps the industry to give appreciation for what’s involved and the tools we use. My standard line is that we play with cool toys and make pretty things and I love to show people we’re in a fantastic industry,” she says.
Higginbotham stresses that any and all local businesses are welcome to attend Business After Hours and enjoy on-the-spot personalization of gift items, door prizes and refreshments on Thursday, March 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 5Star Awards, 100 Woodwinds Industrial Ct., Ste. B, Cary, North Carolina. For more information, visit www.5starawards.net.
