EFI says it will integrate BDR into EFI Reggiani and the companies will work together to develop inks for textile printers.

efi logoElectronics For Imaging (EFI) announces the acquisition of BDR Boya Kimya, a manufacturer of reactive inkjet inks for industrial digital textile printing. BDR is based in Bursa, Turkey.

EFI says it will integrate BDR into EFI Reggiani and the company will continue to develop inks “working closely with and supporting its clients while expanding and growing its capabilities.” As part of the acquisition, BDR employees join EFI while remaining at their current sites in Turkey. EFI says it does not expect the purchase to be material to its second quarter or full-year results.

“We are excited to have the BDR team on board and to fully support their industry-leading customers,” Adele Genoni,  EFI Reggiani vice president and general manager, says. “The synergies arising with BDR and the world-class portfolio of EFI Reggiani textile printers will be a key point of emphasis for us to continue providing high-quality products and innovation.”

Genoni adds the acquisition “significantly” strengthens EFI Reggiani’s presence in Turkey, a growing textile hub.

Serra Saatç?o?lu Yildiz and Ibrahim Demir, BDR’s co-founders, said in a joint statement: “BDR has always been very focused on the growing worldwide opportunity with digital to increase sustainability in the textile industry using high-performance and quality inks. EFI’s global, best-in-class Reggiani portfolio fits exactly with our own key goals for innovation and growth. We are excited to be joining EFI to work together on advancing the industry’s analog-to-digital printing transformation.”

Founded in 2016, BDR services various global textile and apparel manufacturers, with a focus on cost-efficiency in digital printing. The company has grown its name in markets across Turkey, Pakistan, parts of Europe, the Middle East, and India.
