Canon U.S.A. Again Lends its Support to ‘Small Business Saturday’ and the ‘Shop Small Movement’

Melville, New York-based Canon U.S.A., the U.S. subsidiary of Tokyo-based Canon, announces its participation in this year’s Small Business Saturday, taking place on November 25th-the day after Black Friday.

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting local small businesses and strengthening and celebrating communities across the country.

Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday serves as the ceremonial kickoff to the holiday shopping season for small businesses across the United States. In 2016, an estimated 112 million consumers reported shopping at small businesses on Small Business Saturday, according to the 2016 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey. The day was also championed by elected officials in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

In a showing of service and support for its small business, entrepreneurial and home office customers, Canon is partnering with mother/daughter team and founders of Wicked Good Cupcakes, Tracey Noonan and Dani Vilagie. The pair are perhaps best known for their successful appearance on TV’s “Shark Tank.”

The pair will appear in two Facebook Live events on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Moderated by New York Times bestselling author Carol Roth, the self-made mother-daughter duo will offer first-hand insights, tips and advice for current and aspiring business owners as they head into Small Business Saturday. Viewers will have an opportunity to ask questions from these leading experts via the live feed.

According to the U.S. Small Businesses Administration, as of 2014, small businesses nationwide accounted for 63 percent of net new private-sector jobs created and represented 99.7 percent of firms with paid employees.
