LOS ANGELES-American Apparel announces a partnership with logistics company Postmates. Postmates operates a network of couriers who deliver orders locally. This on-demand delivery model is geared towards customers who want to buy and receive orders from the apparel company within an hour.
The service will be available at 79 of American Apparel’s stores in the U.S., and spans 31 major metropolitan areas. A selection of more than 50 core products from the company’s catalog will be available through the service.
“American Apparel is improving its omni-channel consumer experience via Postmates” says Thoryn Stephens, chief digital officer at American Apparel. “For the second phase (of the on-demand initiative) we’re integrating the experience with RFID for real-time inventory availability.”
The apparel company is the first fashion brand to partner with Postmates. Prior to this partnership, the courier service worked primarily with restaurants and other food and beverage establishments.
