You can write a lot of ideas down on a 19,000-square-foot white board.

This week’s Video of the Week is thanks to an alert from Metropolitan West Custom Surface Films & Graphics in Signal Hill, California.

MetWest, as the company is known, had some key contributions to the new headquarters of the vehicle shopping information resource Edmunds.com. The 143,000-square-foot, so-called “EdQuarters” building had its grand opening recently in Santa Monica, California. Designed by M + M Creative Studio, the building takes cues from other high-tech companies that put special emphasis on an engaging corporate culture big on amenities.

One of the key contributions from MetWest was a giant, custom-made white board-called a “WriteAWall”-that covers a massive 19,000 square feet, according to director of marketing Jason Burke. It also installed 10,000 square feet of cut glass film for Edmunds’ team rooms and conference rooms, and it did all of the images throughout the building, including floor graphics, car images, table top images, images on the columns, and on the coffee and beer bar (yes, a beer bar!), which is actually a repurposed 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood.10,000 square feet of cut glass film for team rooms and conference rooms.

Some of the other special features of the new building-where MetWest played no role but still worthy of a mention because of their novelty-are: two Chevy Corvettes, one on top of the other, that are suspended above the reception area; the reception desk itself, which took 1,500 hours to design and build; two 600-gallon fish tanks; more than 2,400 toy cars put together in a mosaic to form the Edmunds logo; and 70 custom, gleaming chrome rims welded together that occupy space above the coffee bar. And did we mention the stainless steel slide that connects the two stories? There’s also that.
