This week’s Video of the Week comes to us courtesy of HEC-TV, a nonprofit television station in St. Louis that focuses on arts and education programming. Aaron Mermelstein is host of a popular segment on the station that’s called “It’s A St. Louis Thing.” In this report, Mermelstein goes tooling around the Gateway Ciy with a man who likes to photograph “ghost signs.” Follow along as he visits remnants of long-forgotten advertisements for stove polish, “Dr. Hoffman’s Red Drops” and the King Bee Hat Co.

And that sign advertising brains? It’s from the modern era, but brain sandwiches really are a St. Louis thing, like toasted ravioli and Provel cheese.
