The Long View: And Now for Something Completely Different

Remember the old BBC TV show called Monty Python’s Flying Circus? If not, then I urgently suggest you look it up on YouTube immediately-especially if you’re in the mood for something unconventional. Monty Python’s particular brand of off-the-wall Brit humor is something to behold-as fresh and quirky now as it was some 40-odd years ago. Irreverent, sassy, silly and altogether unexpected.

As a youngster I recall being completely captivated by the program-much to the annoyance of my father, who thought the show made no sense and that he just didn’t “get it.” I didn’t really get it either, but I loved it because it was so radically different from anything I’d ever seen before-even stranger and more irreverent than Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.

Monty Python was all about wacky rapid-fire sketch comedy, often punctuated by host John Cleese who would suddenly appear, looking very serious indeed, and deliver the line: “And now for something completely different,” as a set-up for the next bit-which could be anything from singing transvestite lumberjacks to a man with a tape recorder up his nose.

All this, of course, has nothing whatsoever to do with business, and doesn’t help you run a more profitable shop. But that’s okay because if you’re looking to experience something completely different that will also help you be better at what you do, then you’ll definitely want to attend THE NBM SHOW when it comes to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Feb 16-18.

Why? Well, this will be a unique event for NBM Shows and for adventurous attendees as it will be co-located with the Graphics of the Americas show-a first for both NBM and for GOA. So, if you’ve never been to Graphics of the Americas show before, this is a chance to experience something completely different.

There is no substitute for going to a trade show for shop owners looking to invest in their capabilities. Being able to see a piece of equipment in action close up and personal helps you better evaluate its output and capabilities, and you can ask questions of manufacturer representatives and get an answer immediately. Not to mention all the great deals that are often available.

And since both shows will be held in an open exhibit hall, attendees with badges for THE NBM SHOW will also get to experience the GOA side of the hall (and vice versa). There are no barriers between the shows so it will be very easy for attendees to walk both shows. This is a great chance to see a huge array of the latest equipment and products for sign making, large-format graphics and commercial printing in an event that pulls heavily from Latin America (attendees from more than 70 countries will be there).

Okay, back to work.
