SAN FRANCISCO-Teespring, a platform for custom merchandise creation and purchase, announces an integration with YouTube. Through the agreement, YouTube content creators advertise Teespring merchandise directly below their videos.

Teespring says the design, known as the merch shelf, “provides a seamless point of sale for YouTubers and their communities right on their video pages.” A small menu with custom apparel like T-shirts, tanks, hoodies, and various promotional products appear below the YouTube video player. The interface allows the video creators to promote branded merchandise and viewers the opportunity to purchase apparel branded with corresponding logos and themes from the videos.

Currently, Teespring says the program is only available to US-based YouTube creators with more than 10,000 subscribers. Both organizations note they plan to “manually vet” each creator and design to ensure safety and high quality standards across both respective platforms.

The news comes as YouTube continues to grow as a popular advertising platform for younger generations, particularly with tactile merchandise like apparel. A recent Pew Research Center survey finds YouTube surpassing Facebook as one of the most popular social media platforms alongside Instagram and Snapchat.
